Transnet puts contingency measures in place as rail, port workers strike

State-owned Transnet has recommended that, with some staff members throughout its operations embarking on strike action following non-resolution in the continuous wage negotiations, contingency strategies will be executed, with the company swearing to do all in its power to guarantee the safety of centers and workers. Transnet increases wage offer to 3%

State-owned Transnet will officially table a better wage deal to the leadership of its identified labour unions– the South African Transport Allied Workers’ Union (Satawu) and the United National Transport Union (Untu)– this week.
