National Pothole Campaign launched to fix potholes

The Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula launched the nationwide hole project, known as Operation Valazonke in Nguni or Operation Kwala Kaofela in Sesotho, on 8 August this year. The project intends change the face of municipal and provincial roads from pothole-riddled to an acceptable state of repair work. The launch will be duplicated across the nation with Premiers and MECs leading Provincial launches.

Sustainable Transport Project with Long Distance Potential

The consortium research project Hydrogen Combustion Engine Trucks (HyCET) aims to demonstrate the sustainability potential of trucks with hydrogen combustion engines for transport logistics. In September 2022, the German Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (BMDV) approved the funding application for the project led by the luxury vehicles company BMW Group. Other HyCET project partners are powertrain specialist DEUTZ AG, transport company DHL Freight, hydrogen expert KEYOU, global multi-energy company TotalEnergies Marketing and vehicle manufacturer Volvo Group.
