Police recover stolen copper in Devland, Johannesburg
The South African Police Services (SAPS) raided the premises of a scrap metal dealer in Devland, near Johannesburg, and found a large cache of stolen copper cables. Working on a tip-off, the police officers searched a property and discovered copper cables belonging to Transnet Freight Rail (TFR), the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa, Eskom and City Power.

Fischer-Tropsch technology company Sasol ecoFT – a subsidiary of energy and chemicals company Sasol – in collaboration with Swedish energy company Uniper, has signed a letter of intent with the Sollefteå municipality, in Sweden, to form the SkyFuelH2 joint venture (JV) to investigate the potential of establishing an industry-scale production facility for sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). KZN floods force Grindrod to suspend operations at five sites for weeks
JSE-listed freight and logistics group Grindrod says its container depots, terminals and warehouse facilities in and around central Durban have been heavily impacted on by the recent floods in KwaZulu-Natal, with operations at five sites suspended – “and likely to be so for several weeks”. “We are grateful that all our staff, and our service providers’ staff, are accounted for and are safe,” notes the company.
